MONTE DE ORO’s CONCERT SERIES

STEEL MAGNOLIA — Monte De Oro’s 1st Sum­mer Con­cert – Sat­ur­day, June 9th

Steel Mag­no­lia — Their brac­ing take of “Keep On Lovin’ You” broke through as the high­est chart­ing debut sin­gle by a co-ed duo in Bill­board his­tory and climbed all the way to No. 5 on the Bill­board Coun­try Charts. The song has been down­loaded more than a mil­lion times and landed in the major motion pic­ture, “Valentine’s Day.” Josh and Meghan spent the sum­mer of 2010 tour­ing along­side Brad Pais­ley on his mas­sively pop­u­lar H20 Tour. They also toured with Reba McEn­tire and Blake Shel­ton and appeared on the Late Show With David Let­ter­man, Jimmy Kim­mel Live! and Lopez Tonight.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy– Sat­ur­day, July 28th

 

 

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is a con­tem­po­rary swing band from South­ern Cal­i­for­nia. Their notable sin­gles include “Go Daddy-O” and “You and Me and the Bot­tle Makes Three Tonight”. The band went from a reg­u­lar Wednes­day night gig at the Derby in Hol­ly­wood, play­ing for a few hun­dred peo­ple, to play­ing the Super Bowl XXXIII half-time show in 1999.

The band was orig­i­nally formed in 1989 by leader Scott Mor­ris. He and Kurt Soder­gren are the two “orig­i­nal” mem­bers, with the rest of the band join­ing later on. The band con­cen­trated on the swing of the 1940s and ’50s, play­ing clubs and lounges in their early years.

Romantics/Missing Per­sons– Sat­ur­day, August 4th   

 

2011 brought the re-emergence of orig­i­nal bass player, vocal­ist, Rich Cole. With his addi­tion, the band is able to expand their set list and include more songs from their first two albums, as well as new and unre­leased mate­r­ial. They are now able to focus in more on har­monies and get­ting back to their orig­i­nal rock sound that estab­lished The Roman­tics from the very beginning.

Cur­rently, Pal­mar, Skill, Cole, and Elvis are tour­ing and writ­ing songs. In the works for 2012, are new releases and some sur­prise unre­leased, live recordings.

Long before Kevin Bacon launched his pro­lific stage and screen career, and
before Michael Bacon became known as a go-to com­poser for film and tele­vi­sion, they
were just two broth­ers, born nine years apart, com­ing of age in Cen­ter City Philadel­phia.
